The Poria cocos fungus is a medicinal mushroom that has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and more recently has been the subject of pharmacological research.
ViaPure® Poria contains refined, oil-soluble triterpenoids belonging to the class of compounds known as lanostanes. Lanostane terpenoids have been shown to have broad anti-inflammatory activity, including potent inhibition of Phospholipase A2, an initial enzyme involved in the inflammatory Arachidonic Acid Cascade. In addition, lanostanes have been shown to inhibit the activity of the inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1 and IL-6, and to reduce edema.
ViaPure® Poria is recommended for acute and chronic inflammatory skin conditions, such as atopic and sensitive skin. It is also recommended for products designed to reduce puffiness and redness, and for after-sun products.
